California Truth

Most people look for pretty pictures, slices of what is around us that represent. Pictures don’t always document what is, they can show what we want to be. Some of my own creations are fantasies. There is a disturbing trend though when media and politicians do exactly that. In that context it becomes a way to change people’s perceptions and to distract them from reality. The tourist bureau shows the Golden Gate bridge, the forests or Disneyland. The politicians pose in front of the new homeless shelter, or the one mile of train track they have completed so that people believe that things are under control. There is another side. It is a side that people don’t want to look at or deal with. This series shows that side.
